A former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, has accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government of incompetence in the wake of Saturday’s postponement of the 2019 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Macaulay, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, while condemning the postponement said history would repeat itself in 2019 just as the present government defeated the then PDP-led government in 2015.

The former Delta Labour leader stated this while addressing pressmen at his Owhelogbo country-home in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State late Saturday.

He noted that the elections were cancelled owing to speculations that the ruling the All Progressives Congress (APC) wants the exercise to be manipulated in their favour.

The former SSG stated that the grand incompetence by the INEC is a hint to how Nigeria’s institutions have degenerated under the leadership of President Muhamadu Buhari.

He stated that the postponement is a repetition of the 2015 scenario which heralded the fall of PDP at the central, adding that this one is certainly to the disadvantage of the APC.

“It is a sorry state. It is the height of incompetence. The incumbent government has not improved on our democratic essence. APC has failed our democracy. History is about to repeat itself. This was exactly how it went down in 2015. The result was the fall of former President Goodluck Jonathan.”

Macaulay, however, urged Nigerians particularly members and supporters of the opposition PDP not be despaired, but to further redouble their efforts to ensure that the Buhari-led government is voted out of power in the next Saturday election.
